Tai Sui, also known as the Grand Duke of Jupiter, is one of the most important stars a Feng Shui practitioner takes note of each year. This formula tracks the movements of the planet Jupiter through the passage of time, which is believed to influence the luck of those living on earth.
The luck the Tai Sui brings can be helpful or tumultuous. When you have Tai Sui on your side, you enjoy mentor, benefactor and support luck. But when you confront the Tai Sui, all kinds of difficulties can manifest for you. You must therefore NEVER confront the Tai Sui of the year.
It is considered an important feng shui update to take note of the location of the Tai Sui each year, and to actively AVOID facing him directly. Each year, Tai Sui occupies the location of the ruling animal sign of the year.
In 2023, the ruling sign is the Rabbit, so the Tai Sui is said to occupy the EAST, the home sector of the Rabbit.
And so, this year, you MUST NOT face EAST, even if this is one of your “lucky” directions based on another feng shui formula.
THE TONE OF THE YEAR
Each year, the ruling Tai Sui takes on the characteristics of a famous General, and his personality, background and heritage is believed to control the tone of the year and how it will generally pan out. The luck each Tai Sui brings is different. There are 60 different Tai Suis in all, one for each year of the 60-year cycle.
The Tai Sui of 2023 is General Pi Shi.
This General was the son of another famous General who went by the name of “Leather Leopard”, so was borne from a strong legacy of military affairs. General Phi Shi was fond of martial arts and war strategies since childhood. As his father was a famous general, this gave him access to respected martial arts masters. He observed military strategies from a young age, which imparted in him the skills and knowledge that became useful to him in his adult life.
General Pi Shi showed great talent and ability to lead from a young age, and as a result caught the eye of the reigning Emperor and was elevated to the post of the Chief Escort of the Middle Army. His abilities in martial arts and war strategy were demonstrated when he quelled an invasion of the Liang-Tao River area. He was able to secure the borders without causing harm to the local population. Following this success, he was promoted to become Military Commander of the 5 states.
During his tenure, wherever his troops would go, they gained the support of the local people. In his later life, he quelled rebellions in the western regions.
During the latter part of his career, he was transferred to General Annan, where he was assigned to be the servant of Immortal Hang Xiang Zi and to support the local government of Yu Zhou province. As he grew older, he still wanted to serve, but due to his advanced age, the Emperor commanded that he should rest. After his death, he was given the title “Gong Gong” and elevated to the pantheon of Grand Dukes.
General Pi Shi was an individual with strong physical and mental abilities. He was able to command large armies and skilfully manoeuvring diplomatic and political problems as they arose. He was hardworking and industrious and led by example. While the forecast for 2023 does not look easy at all, that the Tai Sui presiding over the year is General Pi Shi indicates that there will be skillful and experienced leaders in charge, who have the knowledge, wisdom and ability to find workable strategies to stabilise even the most dire of situations.
Having the Tai Sui of the year on one’s side makes a big difference to the kind of support one can garner, so it is always a good idea to pay one’s respects to the year’s Tai Sui by displaying his image in the home, and to carry his talisman.
