How To Master Numerology And Find Out Your (Freakily Accurate) Life Path

Are you at a crossroads in your life? Here’s how to interpret the significance of your name and date of birth to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, others, and how you relate to the world at large.

If you’re a fan of using spirituality and astrology to give you guidance in life, then you might enjoy numerology, too. It’s the study of mystical relationships between numbers, letters, and patterns. As in most methods of divination, numerology is a tool that is used to gain a deeper knowledge of the self, others, and how we relate to the world at large. It can also reveal our true desires and what we need to do to fulfil them, as well as being a great tool to understand karma and what we carry with us from relationship to relationship.

The origins of numerology date back to 569 to 470 BC. Greek philosopher Pythagoras studied the metaphysics of numbers and believed that every number can be reduced to a single digit between one and nine. He thought that by comprehending the single digit, we can understand the spiritual and magical vibrations of the self.

The Kabbalah, a book of texts explaining Jewish mysticism and thought, uses the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet to find numerological meaning in a name. Each letter is aligned with a number, then added together. This technique was first used by Kabbalistic philosophers as a way to hide the text in the Kabbalah from those who were non-believers. Over time, it was used as a way to find your life’s path and role from your name.

In ancient Babylon, a methodology called Chaldean focused on the vibration of the numbers one to eight. The number nine in Chaldean is holy and sacred, and represents everything one could possibly want in the world, as well as a connection with the divine. In this magical technique, we look to our date of birth and the numbers aligned with the letters in our name to find our destiny.

Numerology was brought to the modern world by Mrs L Dow Balliett, an influential spiritualist of the early 20th-century, who wrote several books about the subject. Her student, Dr Juno Jordan, is responsible for making people aware of the single-digit numerological method we use today.

Find out your numerology number and what it means
Your birthday number

Look at the date you were born to find your birthday number. If you were born on the 5th of the month, then your birthday number is 5. If you were born on the 28th (a double-digit number), then you add up the two numbers together (2 + 8 = 10) to find your birthday number. For birthday numbers, you do not have to reduce them to a single digit. Only use the date, not the month or year. This helps you find your lucky number.

Life path number

Your life path number shows the destined path that you will be walking down in this lifetime. It shows your true nature, uniqueness as a person, and the karmic debt that you have to work through. To find your life-path number, you’ll need to add the numerical month plus day plus year in which you were born.

Let’s say you were born on 27 October 1990. You would add the numbers of the day of your birth together: 2 + 7 = 9. Then you add the double-digit 10 together (the month of October). For example, 1 + 0 = 1. Finally, the year 1990: 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19. As the latter is a double number, we break it down further: 1 + 9 = 10. And again, we break that down by adding 1 + 0 to get the single number, 1.

Now, we add up all of the main numbers: 9 (birthdate) + 1 (birth month) + 1 (birth year) = 11. We deduce this number further, by adding its digits together: 1 + 1 = 2. This means that your life path number is 2 and you are deemed a builder or manifester.

Destiny number

Your destiny number reveals the part of you that is looking for fulfilment. It shows your heart’s desire and what your souls are yearning for in this life. To find your destiny number, you would use the mathematical technique used to find your life path number. But, you would use your first and last name, then align each letter with a number. Each letter has a number that corresponds with it.

Use the number 1 for the letters A, J, S.

Use the number 2 for the letters B, K, T.

Use the number 3 for the letters C, L, U,

Use the number 4 for the letters D, M, V.

Use the number 5 for the letters E, N, W.

Use the number 6 for the letters F, O, X,

Use the number 7 for the letters G, P, Y.

Use the number 8 for the letters H, Q, Z.

Use the number 9 for the letters I, R.

What are the meanings of numbers in numerology?

You can use these meanings as a tool to understand your own numerology, but also to interpret any numbers that have been popping up around you and your personal lucky numbers.

Number 1 represents an independent, self-sufficient, driven, and spirited personality. This is someone who has a sparky vibe about them.

Number 2 represents a patient and tender personality, who takes their time when making decisions and focuses their energy on boosting their confidence.

Number 3 represents a person who’s very social, quite communicative, and studious. They may have a close relationship with their siblings and the local community.

Number 4 represents a rigid, law-abiding, structured person who takes pride and finds solace in adhering to social norms.

Number 5 represents a fun-loving, freedom-seeking personality who takes risks, but isn’t the most responsible when it comes to mundane activities.

Number 6 represents the need for leadership and authority within all relationships and areas of life. It has a ‘take charge’ energy attached to it.

Number 7 represents spirituality and intuition. There’s a tendency for these life numbers to be heavily invested in partnerships, psychic, sensitive, and spiritual.

Number 8 represents an affinity with materialism, power, and success. There’s an innate desire to rule the world.

Number 9 represents endings. It allows us to see that holding on to the past can keep us stuck, which is why it’s necessary and essential to evolve.

Master numbers

Only 11, 22, and 33 are considered to be master numbers in numerology, which means they don’t have to be added together to get one number. Here’s what they mean:

Number 11 represents a charismatic person who is super intuitive and uses their powers to help or heal others who seek enlightenment.

Number 22 represents a dreamy personality who can implement their goals and dreams into reality. Number 22 is often referred to as a ‘master builder’.

Number 33 represents a super spiritual and philanthropic personality who wants to aid and elevate humanity before helping themselves.
How can numerology help us understand our past lives?

Use the same methodologies for your life path number to find your karmic debt number to get an insight into the lessons that you need to learn from your past life.

Here’s what these numbers mean when describing your past life:

Number 1 denotes someone who sacrificed a part of themselves in the past.

Number 2 defines a personality that needs to let go of materialism.

Number 3 shows a personality who couldn’t express themselves in the past. Therefore, they have repressed emotions in this lifetime.

Number 4 can denote someone who was abandoned in the past by their family, which is why they often feel unsupported.

Number 5 shows a selfish personality, who’s learning to be selfless.

Number 6 has to work on self-acceptance in this lifetime to be happy.

Number 7 defines someone who was competitive in the past, but who’s learning to work with others compassionately and cooperatively.

Number 8 means that you didn’t live in reality. Now, you’re forced to deal with the harsh realities of existence.

Number 9 is someone who has negative attachments and is now seeking positivity.

Number 11 is someone who never took a leap of faith. As a result, they are forced to take risks in their current lifetime.

Number 22 needs to be in the spotlight and let their attributes shine. They have to stop hiding their talents.

Number 33 gives them the ability to make the right choices and proper decisions. Their mind is strong, resulting from past life energy that made them a pushover.
